My Neighbor Was Attacked! Who Gives A Hoot? ME!!!

Last night our neighbor told Tom about an incident that happened just recently. He was warning Tom for our safety. Our neighbor, a very physically-fit man in his forties, was walking in our neighborhood. Just a few streets behind our house, he was suddenly hit from behind. His baseball cap flew from his head and he wheeled around to see who was confronting him. No one was there. He stopped in his tracks to listen for mischievous kids running away or voices - thinking that someone had thrown a rock at him. Nothing. He continued on his walk wondering what in the world had just happened. Several minutes later when he was walking on the street just behind our house, it happened again. This time he got a glimpse of something coming his way just before the impact. He was attacked again, but saw his attacker. It was an owl!


Our friend followed the owl with his eyes until the owl landed in a tree. He kept his eye on the owl and even walked backwards all the way down the street and the rest of the way home. He has claw marks on the back of his neck to prove the attack. When he got home, he googled this and learned that owls will attack humans, usually in the spring however. And if you look the owl straight on, the owl won't attack. Good job, neighbor for staring him down after your second attack. Is this not the scariest and oddest thing? Yes, these are the streets I walk when I exercise. I think we have a crazed owl in our neighborhood. If you're in my area of the world and you see people walking backwards, you'll know why!

I thought owls were wise ????
