Tom grilled pork chops which were divine. For dessert, I fixed strawberry shortcake. It was the largest pile of red & white sweet stuff that I've ever dealt with.
Is this not a Gerber baby commercial? Love it!
Grandchildren remind me that I am touched by every life that had preceded these new babies - parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins - we are the human story...we are family...This is the Circle of Life with God in the center.

All during the chaos of noise, I held a sleeping baby. Cady felt bad and she slept through all the noise. I don't know how, but she did. One time when Tom left, he accidentally pushed the doorbell instead of the garage door opener. The dogs went NUTS! It took forever to get them settled down. There was so much noise in that house that I thought my brain would erupt from cerebral overload!
We left around 8 p.m. and came home to a very quiet house where I cherished listening to the rain once again. Silence is golden.
Here are some pictures from the last week.
I'm about to crank Tom's boat and head on over to Abby & Matt's to watch the hardwood flooring expo.

Mark was giving her a bath when we arrived.

This sorta looks like me except that I always wear flops!
Mrs. Crock is also very, very talkative. She must be quite lonely. It was difficult for my friend & I to get away b/c she just kept talking and pleading her case to us. Very sad. Mrs. Crock has the cell number of my friend and calls her very often. . . . 3 times this morning before 10am to be exact. While we were there, she asked me for my number so she could call me some time. I said, "Please give me your phone number so I can call you." I really didn't want to give my number out. I was trying to be gentle yet evasive with my response. Mrs. Crock is sharp. She got a piece of paper and had me write my phone number and the best time to call me. I almost wrote down the phone number of my friend Nancy (that's something Nancy would do), but I did write down my home number. I also wrote down the best time to call is between 9-11 a.m.
While we were visiting, my friend & I thought we heard a shot. Very unsettling. I was wishing that I had brought a can of Mace or brass knuckles. When we finally got inside my friend's car, we left and I know I saw "Crack" houses all around. Poor Mrs. Crock really lives in Crackville. I certainly hope the agency can help get her out of her living situation.
As we drove down the interstate, I looked over to my friend and said, "Friend, I have sinned." She said, "What do you mean?" I said, "I am rarely home between the hours of 9-11 a.m." But, to be honest, Mrs. Crock can call me any time day or night because she has my correct phone number. Darn
Moving on, this afternoon, I went with Abby to take Cady to have pictures made by the CRAZY photographer that did Ab's wedding. He's a nut! On the way, I was telling Abby the story about our elderly lady this morning. She asked what her name was. I said, "Mrs. Crock". Abby screamed, "You didn't give your phone number out to Mrs. Crock, did you?" Abby knows Mrs. Crock. Small world, huh? Seems her former boss met her while taking Meals On Wheels. He felt sorry for her and tried to reach out to her. He even took her to his house for Thanksgiving one year. Mrs. Crock visited Abby's former workplace. She called Abby's former workplace many, many times. So many, in fact, that Abby had to fib about her boss' whereabouts so he could get some work done. Abby told me in no uncertain terms that I would probably get several calls from her daily. I'm glad I have Caller I.D.
My friend & I parted ways around 12:30 today. She was going to the gym to work out. My friend just called me and said when she got back in her car from working out, she had FOUR missed calls from Mrs. Crock. I'm just waiting on my phone to start ringing.
And as far as Cady's photo shoot today . . . it could not have gone better! She was in the best mood. Denny took pictures of her "body parts". I told Abby it sounded like Denny was shooting a crime scene. Cady was dressed only in her diaper which was covered with a precious, white bloomer that had her initials monogrammed in hot pink. All her sweet rolls of preciousness were in view for the world to see. After about 30-45 minutes, Matt fed Cady a bottle. Denny asked Matt if Cady would possibly go to sleep. Matt said yes. Matt got her to sleep very quickly. Denny was able to take some pictures of her sleeping. And when she awoke, she laid so very still and smiled for a long time. He got some great shots. I cannot wait to see the proofs of this photo shoot. Just maybe I can scan one or two in the future for you to see.
Here are two pictures of Cady from a couple of days ago.

The neighborhood families (circa 1940) are thrilled you are coming home.
